Industrial production markedly increased

In November 2010 seasonally adjusted industrial production was higher by 2.0% compared to October 2010. Industrial production increased by 15.9% compared to November 2009. The value of new orders grew by 14.2%, year-on-year.

In November 2010 industrial production increased by 15.9% compared to November 2009. After working days adjustment (WDA) it increased by 13.0%. There was 1 working day more in November 2010 compared to November 2009. After seasonal adjustment (including working days adjustment) industrial production was higher by 2.0%, month-on-month. The year-on-year growth in industrial production was most contributed to by manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (contribution +4.0 percentage points, growth by 23.8%), manufacture of machinery and equipment (contribution +1.9 p.p., growth by 26.2%), and manufacture of fabricated metal products (contribution +1.7 p.p., growth by 20.4%). The biggest decline of industrial production was recorded in manufacture of wearing apparel (contribution by -0.06 p.p., drop by 9.1%), manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (contribution -0.05 p.p., drop by 6.6%), and manufacture of furniture (contribution by -0.01 p.p., drop by 1.0%).

Revenues from industrial activity at current prices increased by 14.9% compared to November 2009. Direct export revenues of industrial enterprises at current prices increased by 22.8%. Their share in total revenues of industrial enterprises made up 49.5%.

The value of new orders in selected industrial CZ-NACE activities increased by 14.2% compared to November 2009 (non-domestic new orders grew by 21.6%). The y-o-y growth of new orders in total was the most contributed to by the following CZ-NACE divisions: manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (contribution +5.1 p.p., growth by 16.3%), manufacture of basic metals (contribution +3.3 p.p., growth by 50.6%), and manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (contribution +2.4 p.p., growth by 17.9%). The value of new orders decreased in the following CZ-NACE divisions: manufacture of other transport equipment (contribution -2.5 p.p., drop by -69.8%), manufacture of wearing apparel (contribution by -0.1 p.p., drop by 7.9%).

The average registered number of employees (excluding agency workers*) in industrial enterprises with 50+ employees decreased by 0.6% compared to November 2009. Their average monthly nominal wage increased by 6.2% in comparison to November 2009 and reached CZK 28 835.

According to the Eurostat news release published in October 2010, WDA industrial production in the EU 27 increased by 6.7%, y-o-y. Data for November 2010 will by released by Eurostat on 12 January 2011 at 11:00 a.m.

* The registered number of employees indicator does not include: persons working under various contracts for work, working owners of enterprises and cooperating household members, who do not have contracts of employment. Data on the registered number of employees in industry also exclude agency workers, who have contracts of employment, however, not within the industry.
