Decrease of production and orders continued

In June 2012, industrial production decreased at constant prices by 2.2%, year-on-year. Compared to the previous month seasonally adjusted industrial production decreased by 0.3%. The value of new orders decreased by 2.9%, y-o-y.

In June 2012, industrial production decreased at constant prices by 2.2%, y-o-y. Working days adjusted (WDA) industrial production increased by 0.3%. There was one working day less in June 2012 compared to the same month of 2011. Seasonally adjusted industrial production (as well as WDA) was lower by 0.3%, m-o-m. The following contributed the most to the y-o-y drop of industrial production: manufacture of fabricated metal products (contribution -0.5 p.p., drop by 6.3%), manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (contribution -0.4 p.p., drop by 12.8%), and manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (contribution -0.4 p.p., drop by 28.3%). Industrial production increased the most in manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (contribution +0.8 p.p., growth by 4.2%), manufacture of electrical equipment (contribution +0.2 p.p., growth by 3.3%), and manufacture of other transport equipment (contribution +0.2 p.p., growth by 11.6%).

Sales from industrial activity at current prices increased by 1.5%, y-o-y. Direct export sales of industrial enterprises increased at current prices by 3.9%. Domestic sales, which include also indirect export via non-industrial enterprises decreased at current prices by 0.9%.

The value of new orders in selected industrial CZ-NACE activities decreased by 2.9%, y-o-y. Non-domestic new orders increased by 1.4%, while domestic new orders dropped by 10.5%. The y-o-y drop of new orders in total was the most contributed to by the following CZ-NACE divisions: manufacture of other transport equipment (contribution -1.1 p.p., drop by 45.4%), manufacture of basic metals (contribution -1.1 p.p., drop by 12.1%), and manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (contribution -0.9 p.p., drop by 46.4%). The value of new orders increased in manufacture of electrical equipment (contribution +1.0 p.p., growth by 11.4%), manufacture of chemicals and chemical products (contribution +0.3 p.p., growth by 5.2%), and manufacture of textiles (contribution +0.2 p.p., growth by 12.3%).

The average registered number of employees * ) in industrial enterprises with 50+ employees decreased in June 2012 by 0.3%. Their average monthly nominal wage increased in June 2012 by 1.9%, y-o-y, and reached CZK 26 012.

According to the Eurostat news release published in May 2012, working day adjusted industrial production in the EU27 decreased by 2.3%, y-o-y. Data for June 2012 will be released by Eurostat on 14 August 2012 at 11:00 a.m.

Industry in the Q2 2012

Industrial production in the Q2 2012 decreased by 0.9%, y-o-y, working days adjusted industrial production increased by 0.8%. In the Q2 2012 compared to Q2 2011 there were 2 working days less.

Sales from industrial activity at current prices increased by 0.9%, y-o-y. Direct export sales of industrial enterprises increased at current prices by 2.5%. Domestic sales, which include also indirect export via non-industrial enterprises decreased at current prices by 0.7%.

New orders in selected industrial CZ-NACE activities increased by 0.5%, y-o-y, in the Q2 2012. Non-domestic new orders increased by 6.0%, while domestic new orders dropped by 9.2%.

The average registered number of employees * ) in industrial enterprises with 50+ employees decreased in the Q2 2012 by 0.1%. Their average monthly nominal wage increased in the Q2 2012 by 3.4%, y-o-y, and reached CZK 26 688.

*) The registered number of employees indicator does not include persons working under various contracts for work, working owners of enterprises and cooperating household members, who do not have contracts of employment. Data on the registered number of employees in industry also exclude agency workers, who have contracts of employment, however, not within the industry.
