Growth of industry continued

In June 2010 seasonally adjusted industrial production increased by 0.7% compared with May 2010. Industrial production increased by 9.7% compared with June 2009. The value of new orders grew by 12.3%, y-o-y.

In June 2010 industrial production increased by 9.7% compared with June 2009. Seasonally adjusted (SA) industrial production increased by 0.7% compared with May 2010. The annual growth in industrial production was most contributed to by manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (contribution +2.9 p.p., growth by 17.3%), manufacture of fabricated metal products (contribution +1.6 p.p., growth by 21.5%), and manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (contribution +1.2 p.p., growth by 38.1%). The highest decline of industrial production was recorded in manufacture of furniture (contribution by -0.2 p.p., drop by 13.2%), and manufacture of food products (contribution -0,1 p.p., drop by 2.2%).

Revenues from industrial activity at current prices increased by 12.0% compared with June 2009. Direct export revenues of industrial enterprises at current prices increased by 17.3%. Their share in total revenues of industrial enterprises made up 50.2%.

The value of new orders in selected industrial CZ-NACE activities increased by 12.3% compared with June 2009 (non-domestic new orders grew by 6.4%). The largest increases of new orders in total were recorded in the following CZ-NACE divisions: manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (contribution +5.0 p.p., growth by 46.7%), manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (contribution +4.0 p.p., growth by 12.5%), and manufacture of basic metals (contribution +2.8 p.p., growth by 46.9%). The highest decreases of new orders were registered in the following CZ-NACE divisions: manufacture of other transport equipment (contribution -0.9 p.p., drop by 39.6%), manufacture of machinery and equipment (contribution -0.4 p.p., drop by 3.4%), and manufacture of chemicals and chemical products (contribution by -0.1 p.p., drop by 1.5%).

The average registered number of employees in industrial enterprises with 50 or more employees decreased by 3.4% compared with June 2009. Their average monthly nominal wage rose by 4.3% in comparison with June 2009 and reached CZK 24 562.

According to the Eurostat news release published in May 2010, WDA industrial production in the EU 27 increased by 8.7%, y-o-y. Data for June 2010 will by released by Eurostat on 12 August 2010 at 11:00 a.m.

Industry in the second quarter of 2010: annual changes

In Q2 2010 industrial production increased by 12.3% compared with Q2 2009; WDA industrial production increased by 10.5%. In the second quarter of 2010 there were 2 working days more than in Q2 2009. The annual growth in industrial production was most contributed to by manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (contribution +3.5 p.p., growth by 21.3%), manufacture of fabricated metal products (contribution +1.6 p.p., growth by 21.3%) and manufacture of basic metals (contribution +1.5 p.p., growth by 42.4%). Industrial production dropped most in manufacture of beverages (contribution by -0.2 p.p., drop by 5.9%), manufacture of furniture (contribution by -0.1 p.p., drop by 10.2%), and manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products (contribution -0.1 p.p., drop by 2.0%).

Revenues from industrial activity at current prices increased by 12.9%. Direct export revenues of industrial enterprises at current prices increased by 19.7%.

The average registered number of employees in industrial enterprises with 50 or more employees decreased by 4.8%. Their average monthly nominal wage rose by 4.9% and reached CZK 24 819.

New orders in selected industrial CZ-NACE activities increased by 17.6%. Non-domestic new orders in selected industrial CZ-NACE activities increased by 16.3%.
