Growth of industrial production continued

In February 2011, industrial production increased at constant prices by 13.0%, year-on-year. Seasonally adjusted industrial production was higher by 0.2%, month-on-month. The value of new orders grew by 12.5%, year-on-year.

In February 2011, industrial production increased at constant prices by 13.0%, year-on-year. Seasonally adjusted industrial production increased by 0.2%, m-o-m. The year-on-year growth in industrial production was most contributed to by manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (contribution +4.7 percentage points, growth by 26.2%), manufacture of fabricated metal products (contribution +2.0 p.p., growth by 26.2%), and manufacture of machinery and equipment (contribution +1.5 p.p., growth +19.7%). The deepest decline of industrial production was recorded in manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (contribution -0.4%, drop by 9.7%), electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (contribution -0.2 p.p., drop by 1.3%), and manufacture of food products (contribution -0.1 p.p., drop by 2.3%).

Revenues from industrial activity at current prices increased by 12.3%, year-on-year. Direct export revenues of industrial enterprises at current prices increased by 21.5%. Domestic revenues, which include also indirect export via non-industrial enterprises at current prices increased by 4.5%, y-o-y.

The value of new orders in selected industrial CZ-NACE activities increased by 12.5%, y-o-y. Non-domestic new orders grew by 18.2%, while domestic new orders increased only by 3.0%. The y-o-y growth of new orders in total was the most contributed to by the following CZ-NACE divisions: manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (contribution +3.5 p.p., growth by 10.8%), manufacture of fabricated metal products (contribution +2.7 p.p., growth by 25.3%), and manufacture of basic metals (contribution +2.5 p.p., growth by 33.1%). The value of new orders decreased in manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (contribution -1.2 p.p., drop by -8.5%).

The average registered number of employees* ) in industrial enterprises with 50+ employees increased in February 2011 by 3.5%, year-on-year. Their average monthly nominal wage increased in February 2011 by 4.0%, year-on-year, and reached CZK 23 552.

According to the Eurostat news release published in January 2011, WDA industrial production in the EU27 increased by 6.8%, y-o-y. Data for February 2011 will be released by Eurostat on 13 April 2011 at 11:00 a.m.

Specific methodological notes: * ) The registered number of employees indicator does not include: persons working under various contracts for work, working owners of enterprises and co-operating household members, who do not have contracts of employment. Data on the registered number of employees in industry also exclude agency workers, who have contracts of employment, however, not within the industry.
