Industrial production in the year 2011 increased by 6.9%

In December 2011, industrial production increased at constant prices by 2.0%, year-on-year. Compared to the previous month seasonally adjusted industrial production decreased by 0.8%. The value of new orders decreased by 1.2%, y-o-y.
In 2011, industrial production increased by 6.9%, y-o-y. The value of new orders was higher by 5.4%.

Industry in December 2011

In December 2011, industrial production increased at constant prices by 2.0%, y-o-y; working days adjusted industrial production increased by 4.4%. December 2011 had 1 working day less than December 2010. Seasonally adjusted industrial production (including working days adjustment) was lower by 0.8%, m-o-m. The following contributed the most to the y-o-y increase of industrial production: manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (contribution +2.0 percentage points, growth by 11.5%), manufacture of machinery and equipment (contribution +1.4 p.p., growth by 14.8%), and manufacture of other transport equipment (contribution +0.6 p.p., growth by 28.2%). Industrial production decreased the most in manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (contribution -1.1 p.p., drop by 26.9%), electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (contribution -0.8 p.p., drop by 6.4%), and manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (contribution -0.5 p.p., drop by 30.1%).

Revenues from industrial activity at current prices increased by 2.4%, y-o-y. Direct export revenues of industrial enterprises increased at current prices by 11.5%. Domestic revenues, which include also indirect export via non-industrial enterprises decreased at current prices by 4.2%.

The value of new orders in selected industrial CZ-NACE activities decreased by 1.2%, y-o-y. Non-domestic new orders grew by 10.3%, while domestic new orders decreased by 17.1%. The y-o-y growth of new orders in total was the most contributed to by the following CZ-NACE divisions: manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (contribution +1.5 p.p., growth by 5.4%), manufacture of machinery and equipment (contribution +1.4 p.p., growth by 12.2%), and manufacture of chemicals and chemical products (contribution +0.8 p.p., growth by 12.1%). The value of new orders decreased in manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (contribution -3.0 p.p., drop by 22.4%), manufacture of machinery and equipment (contribution -1.2 p.p., drop by 43.1%), and manufacture of fabricated metal products (contribution -0.8 p.p., drop by 6.4%).

The average registered number of employees * ) in industrial enterprises with 50+ employees increased in December 2011 by 1.7%, y-o-y. Their average monthly nominal wage increased in December 2011 by 0.3%, y-o-y, and reached CZK 27 453.

Industry in the fourth quarter of 2011

Industrial production in the fourth quarter of 2011 increased by 3.1%, y-o-y; working days adjusted increased by 3.8%. In the Q4 2011 there was 1 working day less than in Q4 2010.

Revenues from industrial activity at current prices increased by 3.9%, y-o-y, in Q4 2011. Direct export revenues of industrial enterprises increased at current prices by 13.3%. Domestic revenues, which include also indirect export via non-industrial enterprises decreased at current prices by 3.7%.

The value of new orders in selected industrial CZ-NACE activities increased in Q4 2011 by 1.8%, y-o-y. Non-domestic new orders grew by 9.8%, while domestic new orders decreased by 10.5%.

The average registered number of employees * ) in industrial enterprises with 50+ employees increased in Q4 2011 by 1.8%, y-o-y. Their average monthly nominal wage increased in Q4 2011 by 1.8%, y-o-y, and reached CZK 27 505.

Industry in the year 2011

Industrial production in 2011 increased by 6.9%, y-o-y. The following contributed the most to the y-o-y increase of industrial production: manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (contribution +3.7 percentage points, growth by 21.2%), manufacture of machinery and equipment (contribution +1.0 p.p., growth by 12.3%), and manufacture of rubber and plastic products (contribution +0.6 p.p., growth by 10.1%). Industrial production decreased the most in manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (contribution -0.4 p.p., drop by 9.8%), electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (contribution -0.3 p.p., drop by 2.8%), and manufacture of food products (contribution -0.2 p.p., drop by 4.6%).

Revenues from industrial activity at current prices increased by 7.2%, y-o-y, in 2011. Direct export revenues of industrial enterprises increased at current prices by 16.2%. Domestic revenues, which include also indirect export via non-industrial enterprises decreased at current prices by 0.4%.

The value of new orders in selected industrial CZ-NACE activities increased by 5.4%, y-o-y, in 2011. Non-domestic new orders grew by 12.1%, while domestic new orders decreased by 5.1%.

The average registered number of employees * ) in industrial enterprises with 50+ employees increased in 2011 by 3.0%, y-o-y. Their average monthly nominal wage increased in 2011 by 3.3%, y-o-y, and reached CZK 25 759.

According to the Eurostat news release published in November 2011, working day adjusted industrial production in the EU27 decreased by 0.2%, y-o-y. Data for December 2011 will be released by Eurostat on 14 February 2012 at 11:00 a.m.
