The Basic Register of Legal and Natural Persons

The Basic Register of Legal and Natural Persons (ROS) is a part of basic public administration registers framework.

It was launched on 1st July 2012 and is governed by the Czech Statistical Office.

ROS collects certain data on legal and natural persons, trusts and public authorities. The list of collected data is included in the §26 of Act No. 111/2009 Coll. on Basic Registers. These data are written and edited by the public authorities responsible for management of basic register of legal and natural persons, trusts and authorities in the Czech Republic. The unique identity number (IČO) is assigned to each person recorded in ROS.

According to the above mentioned law, the data contained in ROS is considered to be referential. This means that their validity and correctness are guaranteed by law. Consequently, public administration uses data contained in ROS for their agendas without contacting clients. This increases efficiency of public administration and reduces bureaucratic burden.

All citizens are able to access the public referential data contained in ROS through ROS reports. These ROS reports are available on demand through Czech POINT services or through data box using the following link. All representatives of persons registered in ROS are allowed to access non-disclosure data, claim incorrect data or access list of institutions that accessed the data, including the reasons.

Every person registered in ROS is automatically notified through data box about any changes to their referential data.

Further information about basic registers are available on the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic website (in English), on website of the Czech Statistical Office (in Czech) and through this link (in Czech).
