Producer prices decreased again m-o-m

In July 2011, compared with the previous month, prices of agricultural producers and market services fell by 2.3% and 0.8%, respectively. Prices of industrial producers and construction work decreased both by 0.1%.
In comparison to July 2010, agricultural and industrial producer prices were higher by 23.6% and 5.4%, respectively. Prices of market services were 1.0% up. Construction work prices decreased by 0.6%.

Monthly changes

Agricultural producer prices decreased by 2.3% in total. Prices of crop production were 4.0% down, lower were also prices of cereals (-3.7%), potatoes (-5.7%), oil plants (-6.2%) and fruit* (-11.8%). Prices of vegetables* increased by 12,6%. Prices of animal products increased by 0.3%. Higher were prices of pigs for slaughter (+0.8%), poultry (+1.0%) and eggs (+1.5%). After 22 months of growth for the first time milk prices have fallen, by 0.1%, also cattle for slaughter prices fell by 0.4%.

Prices of industrial producers decreased by 0.1%. Price level went down due to the lower prices in ‘chemicals and chemical products’ (-2.4%), ‘mining and quarrying’ (-1.9%) and ‘coke, refined petroleum products’ (-0.3%). Prices went up in ‘food products, beverages, tobacco’ (+0.1%). The highest increase was recorded in ‘electrical equipments’ (+0.6%).

According to an estimate, construction work prices decreased by 0.1%; construction material input prices grew by 0.3%.

Market services prices in the business sphere decreased by 0.8%, affected by a 7.2% price drop in advertising and market research services. Also prices of real estate services decreased by 0.2%, prices of freight transport were higher by 0.4%. Market services prices in total excluding advertising services stayed unchanged.


Annual changes

Agricultural producer prices were 23.6% up (+27.1% in June). Prices of crop products grew by 40.7%, due to higher prices of cereals (+73.0%) and oil plants (+44.9%). The prices of potatoes and fruit were higher (+31.3% and 13.6%, respectively). The prices of vegetables decreased (-31.3%). Prices of animal products grew (+6.3%). Also prices of milk grew (+12.3%), poultry (+11.9%) and cattle for slaughter prices (+4.1%). On the decrease were prices of prices of eggs (-20.8%) and pigs for slaughter (-1.8%). The considerable y-o-y growth was influenced particularly by lower comparative basis from the year of 2010.

Industrial producer prices gained 5.4% (+5.5% in June). The growth of the total index was the most significantly influenced by the higher prices in ‘food products, beverages, tobacco’ (+9.3%), ‘coke, refined petroleum products’ (+18.5%) and ‘basic metals, fabricated metal products’ (+6.8%). Prices fell only in ‘transport equipment’ (-2.7%) and ‘computer, electronic and optical products’ (-3.0%), y-o-y.
Among the main industrial groupings, prices of ‘energy’ increased the most (+8.2%), the decrease was recorded only in ‘capital goods’ (-0.1%), y-o-y.

According to an estimate, construction work prices were 0.6% down (same as in June). Construction material input prices were 2.7% up (+2.6% in June).

Market services prices in the business sphere were 1.0% up (same as in June). Increasing were especially prices in advertising and market research services (+6.4%). On the increase were prices of financial services, except insurance and pension funding (+3.9%), postal and courier services (+3.0%), freight transport services (+2.1%). Lower prices were recorded in rental and leasing services (-6.1%), insurance services (-2.4%) and telecommunication services (-0.3%). Market services prices excluding advertising services increased by 0.4% in total (+0.2% in June).


Industrial producer prices in the EU – June 2011**

According to the Eurostat News Release, industrial producer prices in the EU27 remained stable in June (-0.3% in May), month-on-month. Among the Member States for which data are available, the highest increases were observed in Latvia (+1.3%), Cyprus and Romania (+0.6% both) and Slovenia (+0.4%). The largest decreases were recorded in Ireland (-1.2%), Denmark, Hungary and the Netherlands (-0.7% each). Prices decreased in the Czech Republic (-0.2%), remained stable in Slovakia and rose in Germany and Poland (+0.1% both). For Austria, data are not available for June.

EU27 producer prices rose by 6.9% in June (+7.1% in May), year-on-year. The largest increases were observed in the United Kingdom (+12.7%), Denmark (+10.6%) and Bulgaria (+10.1%). Prices rose in Poland (+6.9%), Germany (+5.6%), the Czech Republic (+5.5%) and Slovakia (+2.5%). For Austria, data are not available for June. There is none y-o-y price decrease in EU27 countries.
