In 2015 more guests arrived by 10.2%

Q4 2015, the number of guests’ overnight stays in collective accommodation establishments increased by 6.6% year-on-year, of which residents by 11.1% and foreigners by 3.5%. In total, more guests arrived by 7.4% in this period, residents by 10.1% and foreigners by 5.5%.
During the whole year 2015 collective accommodation establishments reported a higher number of overnight stays by 10.2% and the number of guest increased by 9.6% y-o-y.

The number of overnight stays in collective accommodation establishments totaled 9.1 million in Q4 2015; this was by 6.6% more than in the same period of the previous year. Domestic guests increased their number of nights by 11.1%. The number of overnight stays of non-residents went up by 3.5%. A year-on-year growth was recorded in hotels by 6.3%; pensions reported an increase by 4.6%. Other collective accommodation establishments showed year-on-year increase by 8.7%. In regional breakdown, an increase was shown in 13 regions; the highest in Ustecky region by 19.1% and Kralovehradecky and Liberecky region (by 17.8% and 17.5% respectively). The only region, where the number of overnights went down in Q4 2015, was South Moravia. The decrease by 1.5% was due to a small interest in accommodation of non-residents (by -5.9% of nights spent).

A total of 3.6 million guests arrived in collective accommodation establishments during the surveyed period; this was 7.4% more year-on-year. The number of residents increased by 10.1% and non-residents by 5.5%. The highest number of guest, 1.3 million, found accommodation in four-star hotels. This was by 10.2% more than previous year. In three-star hotels arrived 1.1 million tourists, this was by 8.6% more y-o-y. Pensions reported an increase by 8% (306 thousand of visits). Regionally, the growth was visible in all regions apart from South Moravia.  More successful result than at the end of 2014 showed establishments f. i. in Kralovehradecky region (by 18.1%) or in Liberecky region (by 17.8%). There was a smaller number of foreign guests by 5.6% in Jihomoravsky region.

The highest number of foreign guests (by nationality) came from Germany. There were 427 thousand of German guests in the surveyed establishments; it was by 6.1% more than Q4 2014. Second largest group were guests from Slovakia with 142 thousand of arrivals, which was by 14.7% more. Third place was taken by citizens from the UK (+7.8%). Higher demand was recorded by guest from the USA (+9.9%), Italy (by 8.5%) or Austria (+11.4%). The increase of arrivals from China slowed down in Q4 compared to the rest of the year and reached 20.8%.

Spa accommodation establishments were visited by 178 thousand guests in Q4 2014; this was 1.1% up y-o-y. The number of overnight stays by tourist in spas went up by 3.9%.  The number of foreign clients and their overnight stays decreased (by 2.6% and by 11.9% respectively), but the number of wen up by 4.5% and extended their spa visits by 17.0% of nights.

 

Development in the year 2015
During the whole year 2015, there was a higher number of guests by 10.2% and the number of overnight stays by 9.6%. Tourists both residents and from abroad went up (+13.3% and +7.3% respectively). The number of overnight stays was higher for both groups than in 2014.

In all regions of the Czech republic the number of guests as well as the number of overnight stays went up. The best results was shown in Kralovehradecky region (+18.7%) and also in Liberecky region (+17.3%.

Higher number of foreigner guests came to the Czech Republic in 2015 compared to previous year. A decreased by guests from Russia (by 37.4%; drop by 260 thousand guests) and from Ukraine (by 10.7%; down by 12 thousand of arrivals) was compensated by higher occupancy of guests from neighboring as well as distant countries. Germans increased their number by 12.6% (by 196 thousand) y-o-y. The number of Slovaks went up by 14.6% (plus 72 thousand) and guest from the USA by 14.9% (by 66 thousand). Higher demand continued also as for guests from Asia is concerned. Chinese tourists came by 35.3% more and visitors from South Korea too; their arrivals went up by 31.8%.
