News on the CZSO website

In relation to the Redesign of the Statistical Information System project, which follows introduction of eGovernment in the Czech Republic, the Czech Statistical Office (CZSO) modified its website.

Both the overall design of the website and the domain www.czso.cz remain unchanged; what has changed, however, is the technology, which ensures their functioning. There were added several new functions, which make the website more clearly arranged and information can be found there in a more intuitive way, for example:

• Searching for CZSO products by time-, thematic-, and geographical criteria in the Catalogue of Products.
• Switching between Czech and English version of the website on the level of individual web pages.
• New responsive design of the CZSO website, which allows users follow the web pages of the CZSO in various devices (smartphones, notebooks, netbooks, tablets, etc.).

“The aim is to enhance accessibility and interconnection of pieces of information provided to the public by the Czech Statistical Office. Data will continue to be accessible according to individual requests of users, while maintaining quality and safety of information published. We believe that thanks to the modifications that have been made our website will be more clearly arranged for the visitors and their way to sought for information will be simpler and faster, ” Petra Kuncová, Director of the Information Services Department of the CZSO says.

A change has occurred also in the structure of partial URL addresses. Links to individual web pages of the CZSO saved before will no longer work; therefore it is necessary to save favourite links under new addresses again. Also archives underwent changes – they are newly placed only at a concrete product and are available since 2010. All older products can be obtained upon request at information services of the CZSO via sending an e-mail to the following address: infoservis@czso.cz.
