Telecommunication Infrastructure and Internet

 

The Czech Statistical Office monitors trends in telecommunication and internet networks (ICT infrastructure). To manage that, multiple sources are used. Data are collected straight from telecommunication or internet service providers (ISP) and from specific ICT users’ surveys.

The statistical data provides information on the number of fixed phone subscriptions, number of active SIM cards (postpaid and prepaid cards), national and international telephone traffic, number of SMS and MMS sent or broadband subscriptions by technology and speed. Data on registered domains, visitors counts or page views are also colected.

The scope of the data has been widened to include internet use by households, enterprises, public administration offices, health care providers and schools as well as data on individuals using the internet.

The International Telecommunication Union, EC and OECD online databases were used for the international comparison.
