In June 2023 export prices increased month-on-month by 0.4%, in year-on-year comparison decreased by 3.0%. Import prices decreased month-on-month by 0.1% and year-on-year decreased by 9.4%. The terms of trade reached month-on-month the value of 100.5%, year-on-year 107.1%.
 

Export prices

In month-on-month comparison, export prices increased by 0.4% (after exchange rate adjustment by 0.1%). The greatest overall effect had mainly the increase in ‘machinery and transport equipment’ by 0.9%. The biggest increase was recorded in ‘mineral fuels, lubricant and related materials’, especially electricity and petroleum products, by 4.5% and in ‘miscellaneous manufactured articles’ by 1.1%. The biggest decrease was recorded in ‘crude materials, inedible, except fuels’, especially wood and metal scrap, and ‘food and live animals’ especially cereals, by 3.8% and 1.9%, respectively.

In year-on-year comparison, export prices decreased by 3.0% (after exchange rate adjustment by 0.3%). The greatest effect was brought by decrease in ‘manufactured goods classified chiefly by material’, especially iron and steel and manufactures of metals, by 6.4%. The biggest decrease was recorded in ‘crude materials, inedible, except fuels’, especially metal scrap, wood and oil-seeds, and in ‘chemicals and related products’, especially organic chemicals and plastics, by 29.0% and 11.7%, respectively. The biggest increase was recorded in ‘beverages and tobacco’ by 18.6%.
 

Import prices

In month-on-month comparison, import prices decreased by 0.1% (after exchange rate adjustment by 0.4%). The greatest overall effect had mainly the decrease in ‘chemicals and related products’, i.e. plastics and organic chemicals, by 0.9%. The biggest decrease was recorded in ‘beverages and tobacco’ by 4.7% and ‘crude materials, inedible, except fuels’, especially metalliferous ores and metal scrap, by 2.1%. The biggest increase was recorded in ‘miscellaneous manufactured articles’ by 1.5%.

In year-on-year comparison, import prices decreased by 9.4% (after exchange rate adjustment by 6.3%). The greatest influence had significant decrease in prices of ‘mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials’, especially petroleum, petroleum products, gas and electricity, by 38.5%. Prices decreased in ‘crude materials, inedible, except fuels’, especially metal ores and metal scrap, in ‘chemicals and related products’, especially plastics and organic chemicals, and in ‘manufactured goods classified chiefly by material’, especially iron and steel and non-ferrous metals, by 19.2%, 12.3% and 8.3%, respectively. Prices grew most in ‘beverages and tobacco’, and in ‘miscellaneous manufactured articles’, by 17.4% and 5.8%, respectively.

Year-on-year terms of trade reached value of 107.1%, which is the highest since September 1998”, Vladimír Klimeš, Head of the Industrial and International Trade Prices Statistics Unit of the Czech Statistical Office, noted.
 

The terms of trade

In month-on-month comparison, the terms of trade reached the value of 100.5% (100.9% in May). The highest value of the terms of trade was reached in ‘mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials’ (105.6%). The lowest value of the terms of trade was reached in ‘food and live animals’ (98.2%). 

In year-on-year comparison, the terms of trade reached the value of 107.1% (105.9% in May). The highest value of the terms of trade was reached in ‘mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials’ (155.1%). The lowest value of the terms of trade was reached in ‘crude materials, inedible, except fuels’ (87.9%).
