Statistics of job vacancies

Experimental statistics

Starting from 2020, the Czech Statistical Office decided to introduce the number of job vacancies as a new indicator in the “Práce 2-04“ (“Labour 2-04”) statistical report/questionnaire and thus to acquire nationwide numbers as a counterweight to the number of job vacancies registered by the Labour Office of the Czech Republic. For the time being, it is an experimental statistics, which is under development, and its further development is expected in co-operation with the professional public and with the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat).

As for the concept, the piece of data on job vacancies fits to the methodology of reporting on labour and wages, i.e. to the quarterly “Práce 2-04“ (“Labour 2-04”) statistical report/questionnaire.

A job vacancy is a job that has been newly created, made vacant upon an employee leaving, or that is to be soon made vacant. Concurrently, there is a condition that an employer is active in searching for a suitable employee. Only jobs in employment relationship are mentioned. On the other hand, what does not correspond to the concept of a job vacancy are works of a transitional character, for which conclusion of a proper employment contract is not expected, i.e. mainly an “agreement on work performance” (in Czech “dohoda o provedení práce (DPP)”) and “an agreement on work activity” type of contract (in Czech “dohoda o pracovní činnosti (DPČ)”).

The reported piece of data is not bound in any way to notifications of job vacancies to the Labour Office of the Czech Republic.
