Special "Preliminary Releases" on industry

From April 2009 onwards the Czech Statistical Office will issue the Preliminary Release containing the main short-term indicators of industrial statistics. The Preliminary Release will appear roughly 10–14 days before the regular monthly News Release. The underlying reason is to satisfy the increasing demand of users for basic economic indicators at the time of the global economic crisis.

The regular News Release containing both industrial and construction data from 2009 onwards is published roughly on the 42nd calendar day after the reference period. The Preliminary Release containing only industrial indicators in total will be issued before. The date of release will be announced a day earlier on the CZSO website.

Unlike the News Release, the Preliminary Release will present only data that have arrived while the processing of incoming forms is still in progress. The Preliminary Release will be prepared at the moment the statistical forms arrived enable the CZSO to compile estimates for industry in total but not yet to compute all the figures necessary for the News Release, especially at the level of disaggregated industrial activities.

When the Preliminary Release is issued, the processing of incoming forms continues until the News Release is prepared. As a result, data in the Preliminary Release may not always agree with data updated and published subsequently in the News Release. Despite that there are expectations by CZSO that the Preliminary Release is able to give a good preliminary picture of basic industrial tendencies over a given period of time.
