Sowing areas of winter crops for 2016 harvest

Winter cereals were sown (as at 30 November 2015) on 978 thousand hectares (thous. ha) and rape on 381 thous. ha. Year-on-year (y-o-y), as for the area of winter cereals it is an increase by 31 thous. ha (+3.3%) and regarding winter rape by 15 thous. ha (+4.2%).
Winter cereals for harvest in 2016 were sown on 978 thous. ha, which is by 31 thous. ha (+3.3%) more, y-o-y. The area increased for winter wheat by 18 thous. ha to 796 thous. ha (+2.3%), for winter barley by 9 thous. ha to 114 thous. ha (+8.9%), for winter rye by 8 thous. ha to 30 thous. ha (+38.5%). A decrease in the sowing area was recorded for triticale, namely by 5 thous. ha to 38 thous. ha (-10.8%).
Winter rape was sown on the area of 381 thous. ha; compared to the previous year it is an increase by 15 thous. ha (+4.2%).
