Practical Information

Transport in Prague

Public transportation system in Prague includes trams, buses and metro. Tickets can be purchased at the yellow and red ticket vending machines, which are located at the entrance to the metro stations, at the bus and tram stops or at the information centres of the Prague Public Transport Company. When using the vending machines, we advice visitors to have some Czech coins ready to use .

It is possible though to use the same ticket for all types of public transport. For short travel less than 30 minutes you will only need the Short-term ticket (CZK 24). If your route will take more time, you need to buy the Basic ticket (CZK 32), which is valid for 90 minutes. For comfortable travel throughout Prague for one day it is useful to buy a one-day ticket (CZK 110).
Remember that for big luggage (sizes 25×45×70 cm) you need to get an additional ticket for luggage transport (CZK 16).

Passport and Visa Requirements

The Czech Republic entered the Schengen Zone in 2008. Visitors from the Schengen Zone will travel without pass control on the border or on the airport. The visitors from non-Schengen countries must possess a passport valid for at least 3 months from the date of entry. For the EU and Swiss citizens, the national identity card should be enough, but we advise to have your passport anyway.

Participants requiring visa should apply for visa at the Embassy or at the Consular Offices in the Czech Republic. If you intend to visit another Schengen country, and the Czech Republic is your main destination, you should still apply at the Czech Embassy or consular offices. We recommend to apply for Tourist Visa.
