What to visit in Liberec?

The oldest zoo of the Czech Republic. It specialises in breeding white tigers. Every day you can see e.g. sea lions feeding or elephant training.

Near the zoo, there is a botanical garden, which cares for the richest collections of exotic plants in the Czech Republic. The Liberec botanical garden is also the oldest in the country.

Worth visiting is also Ještěd mountain, towering up to 1012 m above sea level. There is situated well-known TV transmitter on its top, you can find a hotel and restaurant at the bottom of the transmitter. The cabin cableway provides convenient transport to the top of Ještěd. There are located ski-jumps on its slopes, the winter season offers 9.2 km of ski slopes.

In the Liberec city you can have a walk to the dam or explore the City hall with an observation tower. Next to the City hall, in the shopping mall Plaza, there is situated Dinopark.

You can also visit the Regional Gallery in Liberec, the F. X. Šalda Theatre, multiplex CineStar or Cinema City, in the nearby city Jablonec nad Nisou the Municipal Theatre or Eurocentrum.

To those interested in history we can recommend a visit of the North Bohemian Museum which is one of the largest museums in the country.

There are also many castles around Liberec: chateau Sychrov, state castle and chateau Frýdlant, castle Grabštejn or state chateau Lemberk.

Liberec offers also active ways of relaxation in the Liberec pool or bobsled track in the Sports Area Obří sud Javorník. A rich selection of entertainment is also provided by Centrum Babylon Liberec. The general public is invited to enjoy the Recreational and Sports Complex in Vesec where the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2009 was held.
