Handover of the Presidency of the Council of the EU on statistics from France to the Czech Republic (December 19th 2008)

On December 19th 2008, the handover meeting between the French National Institute for Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE) and the Czech Statistical Office (CZSO) took place in Paris.

During the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of 2009, the CZSO will hold the Presidency of the Council Working Party on Statistics and at the handover meeting the CZSO took over the Presidency of this Council Working Party.

The handover meeting was very fruitful and beneficial to the CZSO. The INSEE delegation was led by its Director General Jean-Philippe Cotis and the CZSO delegation by its President Jan Fischer. The handover meeting was also attended by the representatives of Statistics Sweden (as members of the current Trio Presidency) and the European Commission/Eurostat.

The CZSO would like to thank the INSEE for the organization of handover meeting and for the successful Presidency of the Council Working Party on Statistics.

The first meeting of the Council Working Party on Statistics under the Czech Presidency will take place on January 23rd 2009.
