History of statistics Systematic acquisition and collection of demographic and economic data and their at least simple processing has been practised in our country for about last 250 years (this year we are going to recall the 250th anniversary of the first census). A similar development has occured in other European countries. Most of the national statistical agencies and offices were founded during the 19th century.
This section will deal not only with development of official statistics, mostly in the last century, but also with the development of methods of statistics as a science. One presentation will be devoted to the 85th anniversary of Czechoslovak official statistics.
