Under the chairmanship of Mr Marek Rojíček, the President of the Czech Statistical Office, the third meeting of the Council Working Party on Statistics under the Czech Presidency took place on 7 October 2022.
The meeting was dedicated to a discussion on the first compromise version of the Proposal for a Regulation as regards introducing new environmental economic accounts modules. This compromise version was compiled by the Czech Presidency based on the comments sent by Member States’ delegations. At this stage, only the main text of the proposal was discussed, excluding the Annexes. The European Commission also contributed to the discussion by clarifying some of the issues that were raised in the submitted comments.
The Chair of the WP, Mr Rojíček then advised the delegations about the legislative progress regarding the ESA 2010 Regulation. On 5 October, an informal technical meeting took place in order to prepare for the first political trilogue that is scheduled for 17 October. The delegations were further informed about the legislative progress regarding the Data Act and especially about Ireland’s proposal for a new Article 22a to make data available based on the needs of the national statistical institutes and Eurostat.
The next meeting of the Council Working Party on Statistics is scheduled for Friday, 11 November 2022
