A long-time Czech TV moderator, Jolana Voldánová, became a spokeswoman and the face of the 2021 Census project. She starts to work in the position as of today. Besides a standard media service, she will also participate in the preparation and implementation of the communication strategy of the Census.

“Jolana Voldánová is a very experienced professional – the 2021 Census project will definitely benefit from her experience. I am glad that she decided to use our offer and becomes an important part of the communication team of the biggest statistical survey in the country,” Marek Rojíček, President of the Czech Statistical Office, said.

“It will be interesting to find out how we have changed since the last Census, what our life in this country is like, and what we would need help with. Thanks to the 2021 Census, we are going to know the answers. It will be also my task to persuade people that it is not only their legal duty, but a very meaningful event,” Jolana Voldánová said.    

Jolana Voldánová started her professional carrier in the Czechoslovak Radio, which she left after four years to work in the Czech TV news. For eighteen years, she was one of the faces of the main news programme called Events (“Události” in Czech). After leaving the Czech TV, she moderated social and professional events; she regularly leads media trainings, crisis communication courses, and company workshops. Listeners of the Czech Radio could hear her in her own talk show called Meeting with Jolana (in Czech “Rande s Jolanou”), visitors of the Aktuálně.cz server could notice her in her own programme called Coffee with Jolana (in Czech “Kafe s Jolanou“). Besides that, she is also an author of a book of interviews with the same title. Jolana is an eager traveller and during recent years also a motorcyclist.

The 2021 Population and Housing Census will start on 27 March 2021 and it will continue until 11 May. The project takes place once in ten years and it is aimed at acquiring precise and current data that serve to more effective planning of many aspects of the public life including education, health and social care, or the integrated rescue system. The 2021 Census is being prepared primarily as an online Census – for the first time in our history.
