The Census ends today, you have the last chance to get counted

11 May 2021

The population of the Czech Republic who have not got counted (enumerated) yet have the last chance to do so today. The 2021 Census will end at midnight so there are only a few hours left to fill in (complete) the census form (questionnaire) and send it by post or to get easily counted (enumerated) online on the website scitani.cz. Until now, over 4.1 million electronic census forms and about 590 thousand paper census forms have been submitted. A part of distributed paper census forms (questionnaires) is still remaining in households.

“People really do not have much time left to complete and submit census forms (questionnaires). We appeal to everyone who has not participated in the Census yet not to hesitate and meet their legal obligation by today's midnight. Please, do not leave it to the very last minutes. We also ask everybody who still has filled in paper census forms (questionnaires) at home to put them in the return envelope into the nearest post box. At the same time, we express our thanks to all who have already got counted,” Jolana Voldánová, the 2021 Census spokeswoman, says.

Approximately nine out of ten received census forms have been filled in (completed) online so far. The Czech Statistical Office (CZSO) already now considers this ratio to be a great success that can be perceived as a positive shift in digitalisation of the Czech Republic because it proves the ability of most of the population to use information technologies. The CZSO thanks to all the enumerated for their thrust and for their responsible and proactive approach. We also thank to representatives of local authorities who helped us a lot with promotion of the Census and we appeal to them so that they remind the Census to their inhabitants for the last time today.

The easiest way to get counted (enumerated) is to do it online. It is the advantage of the Online Census that you do not have to go anywhere, it is safe, it saves your time, and you can get counted from any place. The electronic census form (questionnaire) includes a guide/help and it is user friendly. The web form, which can be found at www.scitani.cz, is optimised for mobile devices, too. You can thus also use the mobile application Sčítání21 (Census21), which is accessible in Google Play and App Store.

If somebody does not get counted (enumerated) online, he/she has to fill in (complete) the paper census form (questionnaire), which was distributed to households by census officers (census enumerators) during the previous days. However, it is still possible to pick up the paper census forms (questionnaires) at the Census contact points established at over 800 branches of the Czech Post and also at Regional Offices of the Czech Statistical Office. Addresses of the contact points are published on the website of the Czech Post here: https://scitani.ceskaposta.cz/. The completed paper census form (questionnaire) can be sent for free by post in the return envelope that you have received together with the paper census form (questionnaire) or you can submit it at any of the Census contact points. Details are still available on the website scitani.cz.
