From 12 March, informational support for the upcoming Census and help for the public with filling in of census forms (questionnaires) is provided by the 2021 Census Contact Centre. The Centre will be operating daily until late evening hours, including Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

The 2021 Census, which will start on Saturday 27 March and finish on Tuesday 11 May 2021 is designed primarily as an online census, i.e. without the necessity to be in contact with other persons. Filling in the online census form (questionnaire) will be faster thanks to extensive help (an autocomplete function) and automatic displaying of questions based on filled in data. It will take about 10 minutes to fill in a common part of the census form (questionnaire) for a dwelling (flat) and a household; in the second part, it will take about 5 minutes to fill in each person.

“Despite the fact that the census forms (questionnaires) of the 2021 Census contain about half of the questions compared to the previous 2011 Census, we are aware that terms such as a dwelling household or a census household may not be understandable to everybody. Therefore, we have established an Infoline where trained operators will provide necessary information and explain what is potentially unclear,” Marek Rojíček, President of the Czech Statistical Office, stated.

The Contact Centre of the 2021 Census project is available to the public from 12 March to 11 May 2021 (included), daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., including Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays. It will be possible to communicate with the operators in Czech, English, and Russian.

“Several tens of operators will provide information about the Census to the public in the form of phone calls, e-mail communication, online chat, and answering questions on social networks, i.e. on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter,” Chief Executive Officer of the Conectart company, Petr Studnička, added.

With regards to an expected interest of callers during the increased contactless communication, those interested in information can use two telephone lines: a so-called white line 840 30 40 50, on which the telephone charge is paid according to the price list of the phone service operator/provider or 253 253 683 line, where free minutes within personal tariffs can be used. The Population and Housing Census is carried out every ten years. The aim of the Census is to obtain precise and up-to-date data that serve to make planning of many aspects of the public life more effective. The 2021 Census is being prepared primarily as an online Census –for the first time in our history. People will be able to get counted in a simple and safe manner over the internet at www.scitani.cz. They can thus fulfil their legal obligation easily from their homes without a need to be in contact with a census officer (census enumerator) or to visit a contact point of the Census.
