Information Technologies in Schools

Information technologies in schools play an important role in the dissemination of information, and therefore are very useful sources of new knowledge. The progress of information technologies is moving so fast that it is vital to learn how to use them for our advantage in our early years via educational systems.

Czech Statistical Office uses 2 sources to monitor ICT usage in relation to schools and education:

The first source originates from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, which collects data on computer and internet use in basic, secondary, and higher professional schools.

Information on the internet use by students is available from the annual statistical survey conducted by the CZSO titled „ICT Use in Households and by Individuals”. Data mainly covers students who used internet at least once in the last 3 months preceding the interview from any location (home, work, school, etc.) and for any purpose (personal use, work related use etc.).  Also covers various activities undertaken by students via Internet for personal non-business use in the last 3 months.

European Commission data were used for the international comparisons. More information about methodology can be viewed here.
