Eurostat’s Director General Mr. Hervé Carré visited the Czech Statistical Office
On 24 November 2006, the Director General of the Statistical Office of the European Communities Mr. Hervé Carré visited the Czech Statistical Office. During his visit, Mr. Carré was accompanied by his Deputy Mrs. Marie Bohatá, former president of the Czech Statistical Office.
The main purpose of Mr. Carré’s visit today was becoming familiar with the current activities and strategy of the Czech Statistical Office and the State Statistical Service.
Mr. Carré accompanied by Mr. Jan Fischer started his work programme by meeting with the governor of the Czech National Bank Mr. Zdeněk Tůma. Among the topics they discussed was the cooperation of statisticians with the central bank, which is one of the important users of statistical data and a partner in data production.
Selected issues of the present and future development of the European Statistical System made the content of Mr. Carré‘s presentation for members of the public (statisticians, academicians, journalists) in the CZSO building.
Mr. Carré discussed with Mr. Fischer and other representatives of the Czech Statistical Office current affairs and plans of cooperation between Eurostat and the National Statistical Institutes.
