Energy-saving renovation project of the administrative building of the Czech Statistical Office headquarters in Prague

Project Energeticky úsporný projekt renovace administrativní budovy ústředí ČSÚ v Praze“, Reg. No. CZ.05.5.18/0.0/0.0/20_146/0013710, is realised in the building of Czech Statistical Office (hereafter only “CZSO”) in Prague, Na padesátém 81/3268, Prague 10. The reasons for starting the project is the uneconomical operation of energy sources. The building envelope does not meet the currently valid necessary thermal technical parameters and requirements for energy efficiency of buildings. In the summer months, the building is exposed to strong thermal stress and overheating of people's working places.

The subject of the project is the modernization of the energy management through the reconstruction of the building's technological systems, then the reconstruction window fillings, roof surfaces, facades and partial insulation of the building's constructions. The project is realised by EPC method.[1]

The aim of the project is to fulfill the significant potential of energy savings, consisting in the reconstruction of the building envelope and the reconstruction of the building's technological equipment with the optimization of their performance and efficiency. The potential for energy savings is also found in the use of waste heat from cooling the server room, as well as in the use of photovoltaic panels, modernization of lighting, installation of a forced ventilation system with heat recovery etc.

In total of eligible expenses, 50 % of the support is expected from the environmental operational program, another 45 % from the resources of program Nová zelená úsporám and 5% bonus for implementation using the EPC method.

[1] The EPC method can be characterized as guaranteeing an anticipated reduction in energy consumption, which will be reflected in operating cost savings, used (in the case of the unmodified variant) to repay the initial investment. The EPC method was introduced in the Czech Republic in 1992.
