Cross-border Friendship Database (CBFD)

An international project team is pleased to announce that the Cross-border Friendship Database (CBFD) was launched to the public on the Internet address www.crossborderdatabase.de on September 7, 2004, on the occasion of Prague’s international conference “Statistics: Investment in the Future”. The database is a result of collective effort of statisticians from the Czech Republic, Poland and Germany.

Users can find here basic data classified in 10 thematic domains in 4 languages.

The database offers tables for the area of 3 partner countries (Czech Republic, Saxony and Poland) for both administrative and non-administrative territorial units including Euroregions, as well as the basic profiles of entire partner countries.

In addition to the data sets, users will also find basic metadata - definitions of indicators, description of statistical surveys and hierarchy of territorial units.

The project has been continued - the data files for 2002 will be updated. Time series are intended. User comfort will be enhanced by the set of graphs and maps and also by the possibility of dynamic approach to the data (generation of user-defined tables).
