Industrial production growth continued

In February 2010 seasonally adjusted industrial production was 0.3% down compared with January 2010 and in the year-on-year comparison it increased by 7.0%. The value of new orders grew by 7.8%, y-o-y.

In February 2010 industrial production increased by 7.0% compared with February 2009. Seasonally adjusted industrial production decreased by 0.3% compared to January 2010. The y-o-y growth of industrial production was most contributed to by manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (contribution +5.3 p.p., growth by 37.4%), manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products, casting of metals (contribution +1.2%, growth by 33.4 %) and manufacture of rubber and plastic products (contribution +0.9%, growth by 14.4%). The biggest drop of industrial production was reported for manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products (contribution -0.8 p.p., drop by 19.2%), manufacture of furniture (contribution -0.3 p.p., drop by 23.0%) and manufacture of machinery and equipment (contribution -0.2 p.p., drop by 2.1%).

Revenues from industrial activity at current prices increased by 1.4% compared with February 2009. Direct export revenues of industrial enterprises at current prices increased by 6.0%. Their share in total revenues of industrial enterprises made up 48.4%.

The value of new orders in selected industrial CZ-NACE activities raised by 7.8% compared with February 2009 (non-domestic new orders increased by 9.9%). The annual growth of total new orders was most contributed to by manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (contribution +4.7 p.p., growth by 16.0%), manufacture of computers, electronic and optical products (contribution +1.9%, growth by 14.0%) and manufacture of electrical equipment (contribution +1.1 p.p., growth by 14.5%). Industrial new orders recorded a drop in manufacture of other transport equipment (contribution –0.9 p.p., drop by 35.4%), manufacture of metal structures and fabricated metal products (contribution -0.2 p.p., drop by 1.5%) and manufacture of wearing apparel (contribution –0.2 p.p., drop by 19.9%).

The average registered number of employees in enterprises with 50 or more employees decreased by 11.3% compared with February 2009. Their average monthly nominal wage rose by 6.0% compared with February 2009 and reached CZK 22 802.

According to the Eurostat news release published in January 2010, WDA industrial production in the EU 27 increased by 1.5%. Data for February 2010 will by released by Eurostat on 14 April 2010 at 11:00 a.m.
