Marked production growth continued also in August

In August 2010 seasonally adjusted industrial production increased by 1.3% compared with July 2010. Industrial production increased by 12.9% compared with August 2009. The value of new orders grew by 22.1%, year-on-year.

In August 2010 industrial production increased by 12.9% compared with August 2009; working days adjusted (WDA) industrial production increased by 10.1%. In August 2010, there was 1 working day more compared with August 2009. After seasonal adjustment (including working days adjustment) industrial production was higher by 1.3%, month-on-month. The annual growth in industrial production was most contributed to by manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (contribution +2.7 percentage point, growth by 16.3%), manufacture of fabricated metal products (contribution +2.1 p.p., growth by 26.0%), and manufacture of electrical equipment (contribution +1.5 p.p., growth by 27.5%). The highest decline of industrial production was recorded in manufacture of beverages (contribution by -0.3 p.p., drop by 9.7%), manufacture of furniture (contribution by -0.04 p.p., drop by 3.0%), and manufacture of food products (contribution by -0.03 p.p., drop by 0.5%).

Revenues from industrial activity at current prices increased by 14.4% compared with August 2009. Direct export revenues of industrial enterprises at current prices increased by 22.0%. Their share in total revenues of industrial enterprises made up 48.4%.

The value of new orders in selected industrial CZ-NACE activities increased by 22.1% compared with August 2009 (non-domestic new orders grew by 20.6%). The y-o-y growth of new orders in total was the most contributed to by the following CZ-NACE divisions: manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (contribution +5.7 percentage point, growth by 18.2%), manufacture of basic metals (contribution +4.0 p.p., growth by 56.4%) and manufacture of machinery and equipment (contribution +3.7 p.p., growth by 33.5%). The value of new orders decreased in the following CZ-NACE division: manufacture of wearing apparel (contribution by -0.02 p.p., drop by 3.1%).

The average registered number of employees in industrial enterprises with 50 or more employees decreased by 1.5% compared with August 2009. Their average monthly nominal wage rose by 4.6% in comparison with August 2009 and reached CZK 23 883.

According to the Eurostat news release published in July 2010, WDA industrial production in the EU 27 increased by 6.8%, y-o-y. Data for August 2010 will by released by Eurostat on 13 October 2010 at 11:00 a.m.
