Industrial production increased by 10.5% in 2010

In December 2010, industrial production increased by 12.7%, year-on-year. Seasonally adjusted industrial production was lower by 0.9%, month-on-month. The value of new orders grew by 11.5%, year-on-year.
In 2010, industrial production increased by 10.5%, year-on-year. The value of new orders was higher by 14.2%.

Industry in December 2010

In December 2010, industrial production increased by 12.7%, year-on-year. After working days adjustment (WDA) it increased by 10.0%. There was 1 working day more in December 2010 compared to December 2009. After seasonal adjustment (including working days adjustment) industrial production was lower by 0.9%, month-on-month. The year-on-year growth in industrial production was most contributed to by manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (contribution +4.7 percentage points, growth by 32.5%), manufacture of machinery and equipment (contribution +1.8 p.p., growth by 21.5%), and manufacture of electrical equipment (contribution +1.1 p.p., growth by 21.1%). The biggest decline of industrial production was recorded in manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products (contribution by -0.3 p.p., drop by -7.6%), manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (contribution -0.1%, drop by -6.2%), and manufacture of food products (contribution by -0.1 p.p., drop by -2.0%).

Revenues from industrial activity at current prices increased by 13.2%, year-on-year. Direct export revenues of industrial enterprises at current prices increased by 24.4%. Their share in total revenues of industrial enterprises made up 45.8%.

The value of new orders in selected industrial CZ-NACE activities increased by 11.5%, year-on-year, of which non-domestic new orders grew by 14.0%. The y-o-y growth of new orders in total was the most contributed to by the following CZ-NACE divisions: manufacture of basic metals (contribution +3.3 p.p., growth by 48.4%), manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (contribution +2.6 p.p., growth by 20.4%), and manufacture of fabricated metal products (contribution +2.2 p.p., growth by 18.5%). The value of new orders decreased in the following CZ-NACE divisions: manufacture of other transport equipment (contribution -2.9 p.p., drop by -48.9%), manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (contribution by -0.2 p.p., drop by
-7.9%), and manufacture of wearing apparel (contribution of -0.01 p.p., drop by -1.2%).

The average registered number of employees (excluding agency workers*) in industrial enterprises with 50+ employees decreased by 0.5%, year-on-year. Their average monthly nominal wage increased in December 2010 by 1.1%, year-on-year, and reached CZK 27 257.

According to the Eurostat news release published in November 2010, WDA industrial production in the EU27 increased by 7.8%, y-o-y. Data for December 2010 will by released by Eurostat on 14 February 2011 at 11:00 a.m.

Industry in Q4 2010

Industrial production in Q4 2010 increased by 11.8%, y-o-y; WDA industrial production increased by 10.9%. In Q4 2010, there was one working day more compared to Q4 2009.

Revenues from industrial activity at current prices were in Q4 2010 higher by 11.9%. Revenues from direct exports of industrial enterprises in Q4 2010 increased by 19.5% at current prices, year-on-year.

The average registered number of employees (excluding agency workers*) in industrial enterprises with 50+ employees decreased by 0.8%, year-on-year. Their average monthly nominal wage in Q4 2010 increased by 3.3%, year-on-year, and reached CZK 26 955.

New orders in selected industrial CZ-NACE activities increased in Q4 2010 by 12.8%, year-on-year. Non-domestic new orders in selected industrial CZ-NACE activities increased in Q4 2010 by 15.7%, year-on-year.

Industrial production in 2010 increased by 10.5%, y-o-y; WDA industrial production increased by 10.0%. In 2010, there were 2 working days more than in 2009. The y-o-y growth of industrial production was most contributed to by manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (contribution +3.5 p.p., growth by 22.2%), manufacture of fabricated metal products (contribution by +1.4 p.p., growth by 17.5%), and manufacture of machinery and equipment (contribution +1.1 p.p., growth by 13.5%). The biggest decline of industrial production was recorded in: manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products (contribution -0.2 p.p., drop by -3.9%), manufacture of furniture (contribution -0.1 p.p., drop by -9.2%), and manufacture of food products (contribution -0.1 p.p., drop by -1.4%).

Revenues from industrial activity at current prices were in 2010 higher by 10.1%, year-on-year. Revenues from direct exports of industrial enterprises in 2010 increased by 17.0% at current prices, year-on-year.

The average registered number of employees (excluding agency workers*) in industrial enterprises with 50+ employees decreased in 2010 by 4.7%, year-on-year. The biggest drop was reported for manufacture of furniture (-17.0%), manufacture of wearing apparel (-14.4%), and printing and reproduction of recorded media (-12.6%).
Their average monthly nominal wage in 2010 increased by 4.3%, year-on-year, and reached CZK 24 928.

New orders in selected industrial CZ-NACE activities increased in 2010 by 14.2%, year-on-year. Non-domestic new orders in selected industrial CZ-NACE activities increased in 2010 by 15.0%, year-on-year.

* The registered number of employees indicator does not include: persons working under various contracts for work, working owners of enterprises and co-operating household members, who do not have contracts of employment. Data on the registered number of employees in industry also exclude agency workers, who have contracts of employment, however, not within the industry.
