Motor vehicles production significantly increased

In March 2014, industrial production increased at constant prices by 8.7%, year-on-year. Compared to the previous month, seasonally adjusted industrial production was higher by 0.3%. The value of new orders increased by 16.6%, y-o-y.

In March 2014, industrial production increased at constant prices by 8.7%, y-o-y. Seasonally adjusted industrial production was higher by 0.3%, m-o-m. The following contributed the most to the y-o-y increase of industrial production: manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (contribution +4.2 p.p., growth by 26.3%), manufacture of fabricated metal products (contribution +1.2 p.p., growth by 13.7%), manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products (contribution +0.8 p.p., growth by 23.1%). Industrial production decreased in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (contribution -0.3 p.p., drop by 2.2%), manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (contribution -0.1 p.p., drop by 6.5%), and manufacture of food products (contribution -0.1 p.p., drop by 1.0%).

Sales from industrial activity at current prices increased by 11.8%, y-o-y, in March 2014. Direct export sales of industrial enterprises increased at current prices by 19.8%. Domestic sales, which include also indirect export via non-industrial enterprises increased at current prices by 3.5%.

The value of new orders in selected industrial CZ-NACE activities increased by 16.6%, y-o-y, in March 2014. Non-domestic new orders increased by 17.9%, while domestic new orders increased by 14.1%. The y-o-y growth of new orders in total was the most contributed to by the following CZ-NACE divisions: manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (contribution +11.4 p.p., growth by 33.7%), manufacture of fabricated metal products (contribution +2.0 p.p., growth by 16.6%), and manufacture of electrical equipment (contribution +1.0 p.p., growth by 9.5%). New orders decreased in manufacture of other transport equipment (contribution -0.9 p.p., drop by 33.1%) and manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (contribution -0.01 p.p., drop by 0.4%).

The average registered number of employees *) in industrial enterprises with 50+ employees increased in March 2014 by 1.4%, y-o-y. Their average monthly nominal gross wage increased in March 2014 by 3.2%, y-o-y, and reached CZK 27 715.

According to the Eurostat news release working day adjusted industrial production in the EU28 in February 2014 increased by 2.1%, y-o-y. According to a preliminary time schedule, data for March 2013 will be released by Eurostat on 14 May 2014 at 11 a.m.

Industry in the first quarter of 2014
Industrial production in the Q1 2014 increased by 7.1%, y-o-y. Compared to the Q4 2013, seasonally adjusted production was by 1.1% higher.

Sales from industrial activity at current prices were by 10.5% higher, y-o-y, in the Q1 2014. Direct export sales of industrial enterprises increased at current prices by 17.6%. Domestic sales, which include also indirect export via non-industrial enterprises increased at current prices by 3.1%

The value of new orders in selected industrial CZ-NACE activities increased by 16.5%, y-o-y, in the Q1 2014. Non-domestic new orders increased by 20.6%, while domestic new orders increased by 8.9%.

The average registered number of employees *) in industrial enterprises with 50+ employees increased in the Q1 2014 by 1.0%, y-o-y. Their average monthly nominal gross wage increased in the Q1 2014 by 3.7%, y-o-y, and reached CZK 26 730.

*) The registered number of employees indicator does not include persons working under various contracts for work, working owners of enterprises , and cooperating household members, who do not have contracts of employment. Data on the registered number of employees in industry also exclude agency workers, who have contracts of employment within activities of services (CZ-NACE 78.2) .
