Rates of employment, unemployment and economic activity - January 2013

The employment rate (the share of the employed persons in the age group 15-64 years, as percentage), seasonally adjusted, reached 67.3% in January 2013 and increased by 1.3 percent point (p.p.) compared to that in January 2012. The employment rate of persons aged 15-29 years, seasonally adjusted, was 44.2%, in the age group 30-49 years it attained 84.6%, and in the age group 50-64years it got to 61.8%. Following the seasonal adjustment, the male employment rate was 75.3%; the female employment rate was 59.2%.

The general unemployment rate of the aged 15-64 years (the share of the unemployed in the labour force, that is in the total number of the employed and the unemployed, as percentage), seasonally adjusted, reached 7.0% in January 2013 and increased by 0.2 p.p., year-on-year. The male unemployment rate, seasonally adjusted, attained 6.1%; the female employment rate was 8.3%.

The economic activity rate of the aged 15-64 years (the share of the number of the employed and the unemployed in the total number of person of this age group, as percentage), seasonally adjusted, reached 72.5% and rose by 1.7 p.p. compared to that in January 2012. Following the seasonal adjustment, the male economic activity rate (80.1%) exceeds the female economic activity rate by 15.4 p.p.

Today, Eurostat is to publish the monthly unemployment rate, comparable in terms of the methodology applied, within its news release. Data for the Czech Republic are based on monthly data from the Labour Force Sample Survey (LFSS).
