In June, sales in retail trade including automotive segment after seasonal adjustment increased by 0.4% at constant prices, month-on-month. Working days adjusted sales increased by 0.8%, year-on-year; non-adjusted sales decreased by 1.0%, year-on-year, partially also because there was 1 working day less in June 2012 than in June 2011.

After seasonal adjustment sales in retail trade including sale and repair of motor vehicles increased by 0.4% at constant prices in June, m-o-m; working days adjusted sales increased by 0.8%, year-on-year. Non-adjusted sales decreased by 1.0%, y-o-y, partially due to a lower number of working days (-1) in June 2012 compared to the same month of 2011. The y-o-y drop of sales was reflected in both the automotive segment and retail trade (see Table 2).

Seasonally adjusted sales for sale and repair of motor vehicles (CZ-NACE 45) increased by 3.0% at constant prices, m-o-m; in the year-on-year comparison, sales adjusted for working days increased by 2.7%. Non-adjusted sales dropped by 0.4%, y-o-y, due to drop of sales for repair of motor vehicles by 4.0%; sale of motor vehicles (including spare parts) increased by 0.2%.

In retail sale including sale of automotive fuel (CZ-NACE 47) seasonally adjusted sales at constant prices decreased by 0.7%, m-o-m, and sales adjusted for working days by 0.1%, y-o-y. Non-adjusted sales decreased by 1.3%, y-o-y; non-adjusted sales for automotive fuel dropped by 3.5%, for food by 1.4%, and for non-food goods by 0.7%.

The drop of sales in retail trade was the most contributed to by the aforementioned lower sale of automotive fuel and food in non-specialised and specialised stores (drop of sales by 1.2% and 3.2%, respectively). A decrease of sales was recorded also in other retail sale in non-specialised stores (-3.5%) and in retail sale of other household equipment in specialised stores as well as in retail sale of information and communication equipment in specialised stores (both -1.3%). Sale of clothing, footwear and leather goods in specialised stores increased by 2.5%, retail sale of dispensing chemist, medical and orthopaedic goods, cosmetic and toilet articles in specialised stores as well as cultural and recreation goods in specialised stores rather stagnated (growth of sales by 0.3% and 0.1%, respectively). A more marked growth was recorded only for sales at retail sale via mail order houses or via Internet (+7.7%), which have been growing continuously since November 2009.

The price deflator (CZ-NACE 47) related to the corresponding period of the previous year (VAT excluded) was 101.2% and it was influenced mainly by higher prices of automotive fuel and food. On the contrary, the deepest price falls were in retail sale of information and communication equipment in specialised stores.

For the entire Q2 2012 sales in retail trade including automotive segment decreased at constant prices by 2.4%, y-o-y (there were 2 working days less in Q2 2012), in the automotive segment it was by 4.2% less and in the retail trade alone (including sale of automotive fuel) by 1.5% less. Sales for non-food goods stagnated, for automotive fuel and food decreased (-4.2% and -2.6%, respectively).
