Month-on-month rise in prices of petroleum products

In February 2015 compared with the previous month, agricultural producer prices increased by 0.7%. Construction work prices went up by 0.1%. Industrial producer prices were lower by 0.1% and prices of market services stayed unchanged.

In comparison to February 2014, agricultural producer prices were lower by 8.8% and industrial producer prices fell by 3.6%. Construction work prices and prices of market services were both higher by 0.8% and 0.1%, respectively.

Month-on-month comparison:
Agricultural producer prices grew by 0.7%. Prices of oil plants (+2.5%), cereals (+4.2%), potatoes (+10.7%) and fresh vegetables (+13.4%) increased. Prices of eggs (-5.5%), milk
(-3.8%) and pigs for slaughter (-2.7%) went down.

Prices of industrial producers fell by 0.1%. Prices were lower in ‘chemicals and chemical products’ (-3.2%), ‘mining and quarrying’ and ‘transport equipment’ (-0.7% both) and ‘basic metals, fabricated metal products’ (-0.5%). Prices decreased in ‘food products, beverages, tobacco’ (-0.3%), thereof ‘dairy products’ (-1.6%), ‘preserved meat and meat products’ (-1.2%) and ‘bakery and farinaceous products’ (-0.7%). After six months of the falls, prices rose in ‘coke, refined petroleum products’ (+6.8%).

According to an estimate, construction work prices were higher by 0.1% and construction material input prices fell by 0.2%.

Market services prices in the business sphere stayed unchanged. On the increase were prices of ‘postal and courier services’ (+6.9%) and ‘advertising and market research services’ (+1.5%). On the decrease were prices of ‘information services’ (-1.4%) and ‘legal and accounting services’ (-1.1%). Market services prices excluding advertising services went down by 0.1%.

Year-on-year comparison:
Agricultural producer prices fell by 8.8% (-9.2% in January). Prices of crop products went down by 10.1%. Lower were prices of potatoes (-41.7%), fruit (-17.5%), fresh vegetables
(-17.0%), oil plants (-8.4%) and cereals (-6.9%). Prices of animal products went down by 7.6% due to decreasing prices of pigs for slaughter (-14.7%) and milk (-11.5%). On the increase were prices of cattle for slaughter (+2.7%), poultry (+6.1%) and eggs (+3.5%).

Prices of industrial producers went down by 3.6% (-3.5% in January). Prices decreased in ‘coke, refined petroleum products’ by 31.2% (-35.8% in January) and ‘chemicals and chemical products’ (-17.8%). Prices were lower in ‘food products, beverages, tobacco’ (-3.2%), thereof ‘dairy products’ (-9.7%), ‘other food products’ (-5.9%), ‘grain mill products, starches and starch products’ (-4.0%) and ‘preserved meat and meat products’ (-3.0%). Prices rose in ‘water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation services’ (+3.4%) and ‘furniture, other manufactured products’ (+1.8%).

Among the main industrial groupings, prices of ‘energy’ (-8.8%) decreased the most, y-o-y.

According to an estimate, construction work prices increased by 0.8% (like in January) and construction material input prices fell by 0.1% (in January stayed unchanged).

Prices of market services in the business sphere grew by 0.1% (+0.7% in January). Increasing were prices in ‘financial services, except insurance and pension funding (+7.2%), prices of ‘publishing services’ (+2.3%). On the decrease were prices of ‘information services’
(-1.5%) and ‘architectural and engineering services’
(-1.3%). Market services prices excluding advertising services increased by 0.2% (+0.7% in January).

Industrial producer prices in the EU – January 2015*

According to the Eurostat News Releases, industrial producer prices decreased in January by 1.2% (-1.1% in December 2014) in EU28, month-on-month. Among the Member States for which data are available, the largest decreases were observed in the Netherlands (-3.6%), Lithuania (-3.1%) and the United Kingdom (-2.9%). Prices fell in the Czech Republic (-1.0%), Slovakia and Austria and Germany (-0.7% all) and Poland (-0.4%). Prices increased only in Latvia (+0.4%), Luxembourg and Malta (+0.1% both) and remained stable in Romania and Slovenia.

Industrial producer prices fell in January by 4.1% (-3.1% in December 2014) in EU28, year-on-year. The largest decreases were observed in the Netherlands (-10.9%), Lithuania (-10.6%) and the United Kingdom (-9.5%). Prices were lower in Slovakia (-3.9%), Poland (-3.6%), the Czech Republic (-3.5%), Austria (-2.5%) and Germany (-2.2%).Prices rose only in Luxembourg (+1.4%).

Except for the construction work price indices, the published data are finalised. Estimates of the construction work price indices are carrying out on the 9th calendar day of the following day. Construction work price indices are updated using the finished quarterly survey and the finalised data are released on the 45th calendar day of the following quarter.
