The first m-o-m growth of industrial producer prices in this year

In July 2014 compared with the previous month, prices of agricultural producer decreased by 2.5% and prices of market services went down by 0.6%. Industrial producer prices went up by 0.3%. Construction work prices stayed unchanged. In comparison to July 2013, prices of agricultural producers and industrial producer prices were lower by 3.2% and 0.1%, respectively. Higher were construction work prices by 0.5% and prices of market services by 1.4%.

Month-on-month comparison:

Agricultural producer prices decreased by 2.5%. Prices of potatoes (-17.6%), oil plants (-11.8%), fresh vegetables (-9.3%), fruit (-7.7%), cereals (-4.9%), eggs (-1.5%) and milk (-1.4%) were lower. Prices of pigs for slaughter (+4.7%) increased.

Prices of industrial producers increased by 0.3%. Higher prices in ‘chemicals and chemical products’ (+1.9%) and ‘coke, refined petroleum products’ (+1.0%) had the largest influence. Prices rose in ‘food products, beverages, tobacco’ (+0.4%), thereof ‘preserved meat and meat products’ (+1.3%) and ‘beverages’ (+0.7%), on the other hand prices went down in ‘vegetable and animal oils and fats’ (-4.5%). Prices decreased in ‘rubber and plastic products, other non-metallic mineral products’ and ‘machinery and equipment n.e.c.’ (-0.2% both).

According to an estimate, construction work prices stayed unchanged and construction material input prices grew by 0.2%.

Market services prices in the business sphere went down by 0.6% due to the price decreasing of ‘advertising and market research services’ (-11.3%). On the increase were prices of ‘architectural and engineering services’ (+0.8%). Market services prices excluding advertising services grew by 0.1%.

Year-on-year comparison:

Agricultural producer prices went down by 3.2% (-2.8% in June). Prices of crop products fell by 12.4%. Lower were prices of potatoes by 22.8%, fruit (-20.1%), cereals (-14.6%), fresh vegetables (-12.6%) and oil plants (-6.5%). Prices of animal products went up by 8.1% due to increasing prices of milk (+15.0%). Prices of pigs for slaughter (+6.8%) and eggs (+5.6%) were higher. On the decrease were prices of poultry (-2.2%).

Industrial producer prices decreased by 0.1% (-0.2% in June). Prices fell the most significantly in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ (-8.7%) and ‘mining and quarrying’ (-3.0%). Prices went down in ‘food products, beverages, tobacco’ (-0.1%), thereof in ‘vegetable and animal oils and fats’ (-18.9%), ‘grain mill products, starches and starch products’ (-10.6%) and ‘prepared animal feeds’ (-7.9%). On the other hand, prices increased in ‘dairy products’ (+5.7%) and ‘preserved meat and meat products’ (+3.7%). Prices rose in ‘transport equipment’ (+3.7%), thereof ‘parts and accessories for motor vehicles’ (+4.7%). Prices were higher in ‘basic metals, fabricated metal products’ (+2.2%), ‘wood, wood products, paper, printing’ (+4.3%) and ‘chemicals and chemical products’ (+4.4%).
Among the main industrial groupings prices of ‘energy’ (-4.8%) only decreased, y-o-y.

According to an estimate, construction work prices increased by 0.5% (like in June after specification) and construction material input prices grew by 1.4% (+1.0% in June).

Prices of market services in the business sphere grew by 1.4% (+1.0% in June). Increasing were prices in ‘postal and courier services’ (+8.2%), prices of ‘financial services, except insurance and pension funding’ (+3.0%), prices of ‘land transport services and transport services via pipelines’ (+2.8%) and prices of ‘insurance services’ (+2.5%). On the decrease were prices of ‘advertising and market research services’ (-2.1%). Market services prices excluding advertising services increased by 1.5% (+1.3% in June).

Industrial producer prices in the EU – June 2014*

According to the Eurostat News Releases, industrial producer prices increased in June by 0.1% (-0.1% in May) in EU28, month-on-month. Among the Member States for which data are available, the largest increases were observed in Spain (+0.9%), Latvia (+0.6%), Greece and Hungary (+0.4% both). Prices were higher in Austria and Slovakia (+0.1% both), and remained stable in the Czech Republic, Poland and Germany. Prices fell the most in Lithuania (-0.9%), Estonia (-0.8%) and Denmark (-0.4%).

Industrial producer prices went down in June by 0.8% (like in May) in EU28, year-on-year, with the largest decreases observed in Estonia (-6.6%), Lithuania (-4.7%) and Belgium (-4.5%). Prices fell in Slovakia (-3.4%), Poland (-1.1%), Austria (-0.8%), Germany (-0.7%) and in the Czech Republic (-0.2%). Prices rose the most in Greece (+1.6%), Sweden (+0.7%) and Romania (+0.6%).
