Prices of industrial producers again dropped, m-o-m

In July 2012 compared with the previous month, agricultural producer prices decreased by 0. 1%, industrial producer prices and market services prices decreased by 0.3% and 1.3%, respectively . Construction work prices stayed unchanged .
In comparison to July 2011, prices of agricultural and industrial producer prices increased by 2 . 4% and 1.3%, respectively . Prices of construction works and market services were lower by 0.5% and 0.9%, respectively.

Month-on-month comparison:

Aricultural producer prices in total decreased (-0.1%). Prices of crop products rose by 0.6%, higher were prices of vegetables* (+6.9%) and cereals (+1.6%). Prices of fruit* and potatoes were lower by 2.4% and 6.7%, respectively. Prices of animal products decreased (-1.0%), due to lower prices of milk (-3.1%). In contrast, on the increase were prices of poultry (+1.3%), cattle for slaughter (+0.8%) and pigs for slaughter (+0.2%).

Prices of industrial producers decreased by 0.3%. Prices went down the most significantly in ‘chemicals and chemical products’ (-3.6%), ‘transport equipment’ (-0.7%) and ‘basic metals, fabricated metal products’ (-0.3%). Prices went up in ‘basic pharmaceutical products’ (+1.2%) and ‘food products, beverages, tobacco’ (+0.3%), of these ‘vegetable and animal oils and fats’ (+4.1%) and ‘prepared animal feeds’ (+2.3%).

According to an estimate, construction work and construction material input prices stayed unchanged.

Market services prices in the business sphere fell by 1.3%, affected by price decrease in advertising and market research services (-12.1%) and telecommunication services (-0.7%). In contrast, prices of insurance services and financial intermediation, except insurance grew by 0.8% and 0.4%, respectively. Prices of real estate services rose by 0.2%. Market services prices in total excluding advertising services increased (+0.1%).

Year-on-year comparison:

Agricultural producer prices were higher by 2.4% (+0.2% in June). Prices of crop products grew by 3.1% after 7 months. Higher prices were registered for prices of vegetables (+26.1%), fruit (+19.8%) and oil plants (+12.0%). Prices of potatoes fell (-13.6%). Animal products prices grew (+1.4%), due to higher price of eggs (+64.0%) and pigs for slaughter (+13.2%). On the increase were also prices of cattle for slaughter (+11.5%) and poultry (+0.5%). Prices of milk (-10.7%) decreased.

Industrial producer prices gained 1.3% (+1.5% in June). The total index was influenced by the higher prices in ‘coke, refined petroleum products’ (+5.1%), ‘chemicals and chemical products’ (+5.3%) and ‘rubber and plastic products, other non-metallic mineral products’ (+2.3%). Prices rose in ‘food products, beverages, tobacco’ (+1.4%), of these in ‘other food products’ (+7.9%), ‘preserved meat and meat products’ (+4.6%) and ‘beverages’ (+3.9%). Drops were observed in ‘grain mill products, starches and starch products’ (-10.1%) and ‘dairy products’ (-6.4%). Prices fell in ‘mining and quarrying’ (-4.1%), of these in ‘coal and lignite’ (-7.7%).
Among the main industrial groupings, prices of ‘non-durable consumer goods’ and ‘energy’ (+1.9% both) increased the most, y-o-y.

According to an estimate, construction work prices were down by 0.5% (the same as in June). Construction material input prices were up by 1.0% (+1.3% in June).

Market services prices in the business sphere decreased by 0.9% (-0.5% in June). Decreasing were prices in advertising and market research services (-6.1%), architectural and engineering services (-2.8%) and telecommunication services (-1.0%). On the increase were prices of freight transport services (+0.8%) and financial intermediation, except insurance (+3.8%). Market services prices excluding advertising services decreased by 0.3% (-0.4% in June).

Industrial producer prices in the EU – June 2012**

According to the Eurostat News Releases industrial producer prices in the EU27 decreased by 0.8% (-0.7% in May), month-on-month. Among the Member States for which data are available, the largest decreases were recorded in the United Kingdom (-1.9%), Greece (-1.8%) and Denmark (-1.3%). Prices decreased in Poland (-0.6%), Germany (-0.4%), the Czech Republic (-0.3%) and Austria and Slovakia (-0.2% both). Prices increased only in Cyprus (+0.4%) and Latvia (+0.3%).

EU27 producer prices rose by 1.6% in June (+2.4% in May), year-on-year. The largest increases were observed in Cyprus (+8.8%), Hungary (+6.9%) and Lithuania (+4.9%). Prices rose in Poland and Slovakia (+3.9% both), Germany (+1.6%), the Czech Republic (+1.5%) and Austria (+0.2%). The only decreases were recorded in Sweden (-0.4%) and Denmark (-0.1%).

Except for the construction work price indices, the published data are finalised. Estimates of the construction work price indices are carrying out on the 9th calendar day of the following day. Construction work price indices are updated using the finished quarterly survey and the finalised data are released on the 45th calendar day of the following quarter.
