Producer price indices - June 2015

M-o-m decrease of prices in the industry after three months of growth

In June 2015 compared with the previous month, construction work prices increased by 0.1% and agricultural producer prices went up by 0.3%. Industrial producer prices

and prices of market services were both lower by 0.2% and 0.4%, respectively. In comparison to June 2014, agricultural producer prices went down by 10.6%
and industrial producer prices fell by 2.3%. Construction work prices and prices of market services were both higher by 1.2% and 0.2%, respectively.

Month-on-month comparison:
Agricultural producer prices grew by 0.3%. Prices of fresh vegetables (+23.5%), poultry (+4.5%) and pigs for slaughter (+1.7%) increased. Prices of milk (-5.1%) and cereals (-0.8%) decreased.

Prices of industrial producers went down by 0.2%.Prices decreased particularly in ‘coke, refined petroleum products’. Prices were lower in ‘basic metals, fabricated metal products’ (-0.4%) and ‘chemicals and chemical products’ (-0.5%). Prices fell in ‘food products, beverages, tobacco’ (-0.1%). Prices went up in ‘rubber and plastic products, other non- metallic mineral products’ (+0.6%).

According to an estimate, construction work prices rose by 0.1% and construction material input prices grew by 0.2%.

Market services prices in the business sphere decreased by 0.4% due to the price decreasing of ‘advertising and market research services’ by 4.5%. Market services prices excluding advertising services stayed unchanged.

Year-on-year comparison:
Agricultural producer prices fell by 10.6% (-12.1% in May). Prices of crop products went down by 9.9%. Lower were prices of potatoes (-9.0%), oil plants (-12.1%) and cereals (-12.5%). Higher were prices of fresh vegetables (+5.8%) and fruit (+18.4%). Prices of animal products went down by 11.6% due to decreasing prices of milk (-19.2%) and pigs for slaughter (-14.1%). On the increase were prices of cattle for slaughter (+2.7%), poultry (+2.5%) and eggs (+1.6%).

Prices of industrial producers went down by 2.3% (-2.1% in May). Prices primarily decreased in ‘coke, refined petroleum products’. Prices went down in ‘chemicals and chemical products’ (-6.3%). Prices fell in ‘food products, beverages, tobacco’ (-2.5%), thereof ‘dairy products’ (-8.3%), ‘other food products’ (-4.7%) and ‘preserved meat and meat products’ (-3.5%). Prices rose in ‘water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation services’ (+3.4%) and ‘furniture, other manufactured products’ (+1.6%).
Among the main industrial groupings, prices of ‘energy’ (-5.9%) decreased the most, y-o-y.

According to an estimate, construction work prices increased by 1.2% (+1.1% in May)
and c
onstruction material input prices grew by 0.3% (+0.4% in May).

Prices of market services in the business sphere went up by 0.2% (like in May). Increasing were prices in ‘postal and courier services’ (+6.9%), ‘financial services, except insurance
and pension funding
(+4.3%) and ‘publishing services’ (+3.5%). On the decrease were prices of ‘information services’ (-1.3%) and ‘land transport services and transport services via pipelines’
(-2.0%).
Market services prices excluding advertising services stayed unchanged (+0.1%
in May).

Industrial producer prices in the EU – May 2015*
According to the Eurostat News Releases, industrial producer prices increased in May by 0.1% (no change in April) in EU28, month-on-month. Among the Member States for which data are available, the highest increases were observed in Hungary (+1.6%) and Belgium (+0.8%). Prices rose in the Czech Republic and Slovakia
(+0.4% both), Poland (+0.2%) and remained stable in Germany. The largest decreases were in Estonia (-0.9%), the Netherlands (-0.8%) and France (-0.6%). Prices fell in Austria (-0.2%).

Industrial producer prices decreased in May by 2.6% (-2.7% in April) in EU28, year-on-year. The largest decreases were observed in Lithuania (-7.9%), Denmark (-6.9%) and the United Kingdom (-6.6%). Prices fell in Slovakia (-3.5%), the Czech Republic and Poland (-2.1% both), Austria (-1.6%) and Germany (-1.3%). Prices rose only in Luxembourg (+0.6%) and Slovenia (+0.1%).

Estimates of the construction work price indices are carrying out on the 9th calendar day of the following day. Construction work price indices are updated using the finished quarterly survey and the finalised data are released on the 45th calendar day of the following quarter.
