Moderate recovery of sales in services

In Q1 2012, seasonally adjusted sales in services increased, quarter-on-quarter, at constant prices by 1.4%. After working day adjustment they increased by 0.6%, year-on-year, without adjustment by 0.9%. The highest growth was recorded in administrative and support service activities (+4.2%).

In Q1 2012, seasonally adjusted sales in services 1 ) increased, quarter-on-quarter, at constant prices by 1.4%. After working day adjustment they increased by 0.6%, year-on-year (in Q1 2012 there was one working day more), without adjustment by 0.9%. The highest growth was recorded in administrative and support service activities (+4.2%).

Year-on-year development of not seasonally adjusted sales in services broken down by CZ-NACE division:

- sales in transportation and storage increased by 1.4%. Sales grew in all divisions except for water transport (-1.0%) and stagnating postal and courier activities. Sales increased in air transport (+2.6%), land transport and transport via pipelines (+1.3%), and in warehousing and support activities for transportation (+1.5%);

- sales in accommodation and food service activities slightly increased (+0.4%). The increase was influenced by development in accommodation (+ 10.0%); on the contrary, in food and beverage service activities sales decreased by 4.0%;

- in information and communication the decrease of sales, which started in the Q2 2011 continued, this time it dropped by 0.4%. The overall drop was influenced mainly by lower sales in telecommunications (-4.1%), publishing activities (-5.1%), and information service activities (-8.6%), which include, for example, news agency activities, activities related to web portals, data processing, and hosting. Drop of sales was recorded also in the so-called music and motion picture activities (-6.1%). Increase of sales was reported only by computer programming, consultancy and related activities (+6.2%) and programming and broadcasting activities (+20.0%);

- sales in real estate activities dropped by 1.8%. Buying and selling of own real estate and renting and operating of own or leased real estate recorded a decrease (-0.3%) as well as sales of real estate activities on a fee or contract basis (-3.9%);

- sales in professional, scientific and technical activities 2 ) increased by 0.8%. Architectural and engineering activities increased by 10.8%, sales for advertising and market research increased, too (+0.4%). Sales of other divisions dropped - activities of head offices; management consultancy activities (-1.6%), legal and accounting activities (-5.0%), and other professional, scientific and technical activities (-5.0%);

- sales in administrative and support service activities 3 ) increased by 4.2%. An increase was recorded by all divisions except for security and investigation activities (-5.3%). The biggest sales increase was in employment activities (+16.4%) and office administrative, office support and other business support activities (+7.4%). After a drop in the Q4 2011, sales increased again in services to buildings and landscape activities (+4.5%) and travel agency, tour operator and other reservation service and related activities (+1.2%). Rental and leasing activities were growing already for five successive quarters (this time +1.5%).
