With seasonal, calendar and working day adjustment sales in retail trade including automotive segment increased in September by 0.6%, at constant prices, m-o-m, and by 3.0% in the year-on-year comparison. Seasonally non-adjusted sales increase by 3.5%, y-o-y, was influenced (at the same number of working days in 2010 and 2009) mainly by wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (+2.2 percentage point) and sale of non-food goods (+1.7 p.p.). On the contrary, the sales development was negatively influenced by retail sale of automotive fuel in specialised stores (contribution -0.6 p.p.) (see Table 2).

Seasonally adjusted sales in sale and repair of motor vehicles (CZ-NACE 45) decreased by 1.3% at constant prices, m-o-m, and in the year-on-year comparison they increased by 7.9%. Seasonally non-adjusted sales increased by 7.8%, y-o-y, mainly due to the increase of sale of motor vehicles by 7.1%. According to the data of the Automotive Industry Association, registrations of new vehicles increased by 8.2%, while the first registration of second-hand motor vehicles decreased by 9.1%. Since it does not include second-hand motor vehicles that had been already registered in the CR, it can be concluded that their import decreased.

In retail sale including sale of automotive fuel (CZ-NACE 47) seasonally adjusted sales at constant prices increased by 1.4%, m-o-m, and in the y-o-y comparison by 1.1%. Seasonally non-adjusted sales increased by 1.8%, y-o-y, of which sale of non-food goods increased by 4.5%, sale of food, beverages and tobacco by 0.9%, while retail sale of automotive fuel in specialised stores decreased by 5.1%.
