The y-o-y growth of non-adjusted sales by 3.2% was contributed to (with a higher number of working days in May 2011 than in 2010 by 1 day) mainly by “wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles” (+2.1 p.p.), and non-food goods (+1.9 p.p.), while the opposite effect came from sale of food (-0.6 p.p.) and sale of automotive fuel (-0.2 p.p.); see Table 2.

Seasonally non-adjusted sales increased by 1.6%, y-o-y, despite the fact that the growth was decelerated by drop of sale of food and automotive fuel (-2.5% and -1.7%, respectively). It was contributed to by increased sales of non-food goods by 5.9%.

This development was reflected in the total price growth in retail sale in stores with food, beverages or tobacco predominating (+5.3%). The deepest price falls were in retail sale of information and communication equipment in specialised stores (-9.4%), textiles and footwear (-2.4%), and other household equipment in specialised stores (-2.0%).
