Methodology

Meat production

There are given results of the monthly survey on slaughtering of livestock in time series. The survey covers all reporting units dealing with slaughtering of livestock in the Czech Republic without regard to their production capacity. The slaughtering covers the whole livestock for slaughter, both internal and external origin.

Meat production total in carcass weight contains beef incl. veal, pig meat, sheep meat and horse meat. Sheep meat production includes also lamb and goat meat. Poultry meat has been included in the total meat production published in the Press Releases since 2006.

Poultry meat data comes from the monthly survey on purchase of poultry in live weight conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture. The live weight is converted into carcass weight.

Milk collection

Data comes from the monthly full survey carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture.

Agricultural producer prices

Prices are taken from the results of the monthly price statistics. Both prices, of realization and contractual (both excl. VAT) are measured among about 650 selected producers in agriculture. Only prices intended for internal market are measured. Prices have been measured on 32 animal products since 2001. Average prices are calculated as simple arithmetic mean of prices of individual producers. Monthly price indices of measured products are calculated as quotient of their average monthly price and average annual price of 1999. A constant weight scheme is laid down to calculate indices. This scheme is based on the structure of agricultural products in months of 1999.

External trade

Data is taken from the results of external trade statistics. These statistics are based on two systems of data collection:

1. Intrastat measures movement of goods within the Community (receipt and dispatch of goods from/to the Member States of the EU). Duty to report to Intrastat does not apply to reporting units under the threshold of CZK 4 million a year for dispatch and CZK 2 million a year for receipt, but their trade is included in statistics through mathematical and statistical imputation.

2. Extrastat measures trade in the non-EU Member States (exports and imports of goods from/to the third countries). It is based on data coming from the Single Administrative Documents.

Exports are value of goods that were dispatched abroad and crossed the state border for the purpose of being left abroad, permanently or temporarily. Total exports consist of dispatch to the EU Member States and exports to the third countries.

Imports are value of goods that were received from abroad and crossed the state border for the purpose of being left in the Czech Republic, permanently or temporarily. Total imports consist of receipt from the EU Member States and imports from the third countries.
