§  1 The State Statistical Service

(1) The State Statistical Service is an activity which includes the acquisition of data, the production of statistical information on social, economic, demographic and environmental development in the Czech Republic and in its individual parts, the provision and publication of statistical information. A part thereof is making statistical information comparable and fulfilling obligations under international treaties and agreements in the area of statistics binding for the Czech Republic.

(2) The State Statistical Service does not include the gathering or requesting of information and material under special Acts¹ for purposes other than statistical.
