Despite some temporary restrictions, the enlargement of EU will open new trends in international movement of labour force, particularly in conjunction with demographic problems of European countries. To facilitate the engagement of foreign labour force, good information concerning incomes, salaries, living conditions in extenso, will be required. In this respect any international comparison of social and living conditions is uneasy due to the differencies in the concept of social systems in respective countries.
Some expectations are connected with the Eurostat survey EU SILC, project EURES – European Employment Services which will cover database of working and living conditions.
Statistics of wages and salaries is one of the key issues.
The elaboration and regular updating of employment projections as input for social and economic policies, is essential.
